Good things
belong together.

A considered palette should work as beautifully in the details as it does in the first impression.

READING THE RESULT

A pairing, not a complete audit.

This tool compares two opaque sRGB colors using relative luminance. Results use the full calculated ratio for the threshold test; the displayed ratio is rounded to two decimals. A rounded display of 4.50 does not itself guarantee a pass.

What counts as large text?

WCAG describes large text as at least 18 pt, or 14 pt in bold, approximately 24 CSS pixels or 18.67 CSS pixels in bold. Thin strokes and detailed backgrounds can still make a nominally passing combination difficult to read.

Where should the accent go?

If a pairing fails for body copy, keep that combination away from essential small text. Try a darker primary or a lighter base, then review real applications. A decorative accent does not need to carry every paragraph.

What this check leaves out

It does not test transparency, text over photographs, gradients, printed material, keyboard access or the full accessibility of a page. Passing one pair is not a certification. Record the intended use and text size beside your approved colors.

Method: W3C Contrast (Minimum) and Contrast (Enhanced). This is a WCAG 2.x contrast calculation, not APCA.
